Worst Haiti Hoax ever

More than 200,000 people joined a Facebook group that claimed to be collecting money to send for Haiti relief before it became widely know that the group behind the effort was the “Swedish Necrophilia Association”. The page stated they were sending 500,000 kronor to “ensure that the bodies which are brought home from Haiti are in as good shape as possible” and included graphic descriptions and photos. Fortunately, the group was ultimately removed.

Is this a group of sick people taking advantage of a tragedy to promote an agenda? Or, is it a group trying to teach people to check into what they are signing up for when they blindly endorse something? In this case, the endorsement is joining the group. Or, maybe it’s a little of both.
